Diagnosis

Predominantly bright red species (female only), lower frons, antennae and major parts of legs white (fore coxa red in female), hind leg white except tarsi with segments 1-3 brown, 4 yellowish-white; gaster white with a red cross-band medially (female); female mesoscutum and scutellum with dense reticulation and with strong sculpture inside each mesh, hence dull (same as in thapsina); male mesoscutum and scutellum with raised and rather strong reticulation but with larger meshes than in female and without sculpture inside meshes.
